Patrimoine et transformations territoriales : quels apports des notions de référentiel et de justice ?

The Relevance of the Notions of Frame of Reference and Justice for the Analysis of Heritage and Territorial Transformations

Abstract

Dans un contexte d’approfondissement des crises, la notion de transition
écologique a progressivement supplanté celle de développement durable,
exprimant la nécessité d’un passage à l’action et d’une transformation des
systèmes dans lesquels s’inscrivent les référentiels associés. Dans un contexte
de fragmentation des espaces marginalisés, cet article explore différents
référentiels de transformation. Après s’être attaché à situer la place et le rôle des
processus de patrimonialisation dans ces transformations territoriales, il mobilise
la recherche d’une justice sociale et environnementale comme clé d’analyse de
nouveaux modes de patrimonialisation. Enfin, il montre comment les processus
de patrimonialisation peuvent caractériser ces différents référentiels de
transformation.

In a context of deepening crises, the notion of ecological transition has
progressively supplanted that of sustainable development, expressing the need
for a shift to action and a transformation of the systems in which the associated
frames of reference are embedded. In a context of fragmentation of marginalized
spaces, this article explores different frame of reference of transformation. After
situating the place and role of the processes of heritage designation in these
territorial transformations, it mobilizes the search for social and environmental
justice as key for analyzing new modes of heritage designation. Finally, it shows
how the processes of heritage designation can characterize these different frames
of reference of transformation.
