Abstract

In 2017 the Cree School Board undertook an evaluation of the Administrative support staff and their managers at the Cree School Board of Iiyiyiu Aschii in advance of implementing a Performance Management Program (PMP) for annual staff appraisals. This evaluation determined that training was required before the PMP was implemented. A further survey identified skills that the Administrative support staff required to perform their jobs effectively. This initiated the development of a customised professional development program for the Administrative support staff, the Continuous Learning Journey (CLJ). This article shares details about this program, which emphasises iiyiyiu cultural connections, centring the iiyiyiu worldview and language alongside workplace skills.
