Journal of Rural and Community Development

The Journal of Rural and Community Development (JRCD) is pleased to announce the release of Volume 11, Issue 1. This is a long delayed issue. The delay is due to the transition to the new web platform that began last September. We are still working out kinks in the system. First, we would like to thank authors for their patience. Second, we are working diligently to eliminate the backlog of papers awaiting publication. We are still on course for at least three issues for 2016. I would like to thank the Editorial Board, Editorial Assistants, Copy Editors, Reviewers, and Brandon University for the support and energy they bring to the JRCD. This support includes the efforts of IT services at Brandon University who brought the JRCD into a new web platform that although has had transitional problems, in the long run will improve the JRCD.

The JRCD gratefully acknowledges funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) through their 'Aid to Scholarly Publications' programme. We were recently successful in securing renewed SSHRC funding for 2015-2018. This assists us in improving the review and publication process and marketing the JRCD.

The JRCD is published by the Rural Development Institute (RDI) at Brandon University. RDI was established in 1989 as an academic research centre and a leading source of information on issues affecting rural communities in western Canada and elsewhere. The JRCD benefitted with initial funding from the Manitoba Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development. For more information, please visit:
